Step into the world of fine carpentry – at the historic Slöjdseminariet at Nääs, once world-renowned for its pedagogy where students from around the globe gathered. Here you work in the same craft hall as at the turn of the 20th century, where the tradition of craftsmanship still lives on.
This is a foundation course for those who are curious but lack previous experience. During the course, you will learn the basics of working with wood and creating durable and beautiful objects. We cover classic joinery techniques such as dovetails, biscuits, tenons and mortises, as well as how to use nails, screws and fittings correctly. You will also gain knowledge about tools, maintenance and basic sharpening, and work with both hand tools and power tools.
You choose what you want to make – perhaps a stool, shelf, tray or small box – and complete the course with your own useful object to take home.
Course leader: Furniture maker, rural carpenter and building conservator Manne Swedberg himself began his career by attending carpentry training at Nääs. Manne is highly experienced and works both as a course leader and advisor in building conservation for Slöjd & Byggnadsvård. Manne also undertakes smaller fine carpentry commissions through his company.

Refreshments are included and lunch is served at Nääs Kaffestuga, with views over the historic castle grounds.
Accommodation and evening meal are not included in this version of Snickeri för skräckslagna. For those who wish to extend their stay, it is possible to book accommodation at Nääs.
