The South Wing, dating back to the 18th century, is one of the most elegant and private accommodations at Nääs. Selma Lagerlöf stayed here when she returned to Nääs over many years, and even today it is easy to imagine how the cultural figures of the time gathered in the salons.
Stepping into the house is almost like stepping straight into the late 19th century – into rooms where conversations about literature, learning and ideas once continued late into the evening. Today, this historic atmosphere meets modern comfort in a restful castle setting.
The Nääs Castle wings have their roots in the 18th century, when the estate was owned by Jacob von Utfall – a director of the Swedish East India Company. At that time, the castle itself had the character of a Carolingian manor, and the two wings are the only buildings remaining from this period.
During the time of the last castle owner, August Abrahamson, the South Wing became an obvious place for the family’s guests. His niece Sophie Elkan stayed here for many summers together with Selma Lagerlöf, and the house became a setting for friendship, literary conversations and diligent work.
Our Selma Suite in the South Wing is perfect for newlyweds and guests looking for a place of peace and history. Here, guests stay undisturbed, with views of the garden and the feeling of stepping into another time.
The room has a four-poster bed, private WC/shower, free WiFi, and access to a small library with seating area, shared kitchen and access to the garden.

In the South Wing there is only one double room, Nääs’ bridal suite, with a private toilet and shower.
In the South Wing there is the Selma bridal suite with a private toilet and shower. Accommodation guests also have access to a lounge, kitchen and hall with a guest toilet.
If desired, it is also possible to book the dining room, with seating for ten guests.
At Nääs, guests always have access to a fully equipped kitchen in each accommodation. Guests are warmly welcome to bring ingredients and prepare their own meals. For larger parties, it is possible to order breakfast and simple meals at Kaffestugan.
Around Nääs there are several excellent restaurants serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. We can, for example, recommend Nääs Fabriker, Folket på Garveriet in Floda, and Öijared Resort.
Welcome to book the dining room in the South Wing – an elegant late-19th-century setting, perfect for a smaller dinner party.
There is an antique dining table seating up to ten people, as well as a side table for serving. An atmospheric place for a shared dinner in a historic setting.
Adjacent is a kitchen where you can prepare your own dinner together, or use your own chef or a catering company. You are also welcome to bring your own drinks. Breakfast is easily arranged by yourselves in the kitchen.

In the South Wing, WiFi is available for all guests. The password is in both Selma and the dining room.
All accommodation guests receive one parking permit per room, valid for the entire stay at Nääs.
The nearest parking is about 100 metres north of the wing. You may drive up to load and unload luggage, but parking directly outside the wing is not permitted.
To enter the South Wing, there is a stone staircase, three steps, to the main entrance and a staircase, one step, to the garden at the back.
The entrance door is a double door.
There are thresholds between all rooms.
The nearest accessible toilet (HWC) is in Slottsboden and Kaffestugan.
