Visiting Nääs as a family with children should be an experience filled with play, curiosity, and the joy of discovery. There are plenty of open spaces where energetic children can move freely, and many beautiful spots perfect for a cozy picnic together.
The historic environment sparks imagination – here, children can dream away amidst castles, stories, and bygone eras, while also receiving a natural and playful introduction to history.
In the Kaffestugan (Coffee House), there is a dedicated small play area where children can have their own “coffee party,” and in Nääs Slottsbod (Castle Shop), you will find carefully selected children’s products.
At Nääs, there is no traditional playground – and that’s exactly how we like it.
Instead, an entire castle park unfolds, filled with play, movement, and adventure in its most delightful form. Among century-old trees and open grassy areas await our breathtaking angel swings – proper long swings that soar high into the branches – a 450-meter-long labyrinth to get lost in, and classic games like tug-of-war that invite laughter, competition, and togetherness.
There’s space to run, explore, and create your own adventures – and plenty of room for croquet and other outdoor games. During the Slottsboden’s opening hours, it’s also possible to rent croquet sets.
The castle park is open every day of the week, all year round – a place to return to, again and again. Here, imagination can take over, and both young and old can play freely, explore, and create lasting memories.
Horses and cattle graze in the surrounding pastures. In the stable, you can come in and see the horses.
Nääs offers truly excellent swimming opportunities, including a smaller municipal bathing area with a sandy beach and jetty. In several places, it’s also possible to swim even without a jetty, for example, at the castle park bathing area and at Kärleksudden (Love Point).
The Nääs Ekhagar Nature Reserve is part of a larger deciduous forest area around Lake Mjörn, considered one of the most valuable in Sweden.
It’s a fantastic environment for children to discover. Along the lake to the bathing area, there are exciting hollow oak trees to peek into.

Nääs today is a national heritage building and a nature reserve, but also a large estate with a fantastic history.
