The function rooms in Vänhem
Vänhem features two large function rooms – the glass veranda and the dining room – where many weddings are celebrated.
- Vänhem offers one of the country's most beautiful glass verandas.
- The dining room accommodates up to 120 seated guests.
Dinner is served in the dining room overlooking Lake Sävelången, while the wedding ceremony is often held in the glass veranda, which later transforms into a dance floor. Adjacent to the veranda, there are also rooms for mingling and relaxation.
History
The history of Vänhem
Vänhem, located in the craft seminary area, was originally a summer residence for August Abrahamson and his wife Euphrosyne in Bellevue, Gothenburg. In 1873, the house was moved to Nääs, where a beautiful glass veranda and a large dining room were added.
During the time of the craft seminary, these rooms became the heart of social life at Nääs.
Accommodation
Accommodation for wedding guests
When booking Vänhem for a wedding, the package includes, in addition to the function rooms, accommodation for two nights for up to 42 guests (the number depends on the season and the composition of the group).
- Parking permits are included for each guest room, along with 20 extra permits for party guests.
- Breakfast at Kaffestugan next to the castle can be booked for overnight guests.
- A relaxed Friday dinner can also be offered prior to the wedding.

Frequently asked questions about Vänhem
How many guests can Vänhem accommodate?
Vänhem’s dining room can accommodate up to 120 guests seated at tables. The veranda offers plenty of space for mingling and dancing.
Can we have the ceremony, dinner, and party all in the same building?
Yes, Vänhem is excellent for hosting the entire wedding day in one place – the ceremony, dinner, and dancing all fit beautifully within the building.
How much does it cost to rent Vänhem?
Vänhem is booked as a complete package, including the venues along with all accommodation at Nääs for two nights (17 rooms, 42 beds).
Price:
Weekend 85,000 SEK (2026)
Weekend 90,000 SEK (2027-2028)
Weekday 60,000 SEK (2027-2028)
To make it simple and clear, payment is divided into three steps:
– 50% upon booking
– 25% seven months before the wedding
– 25% three months before the wedding
How does the accommodation work?
Your booking includes accommodation for two nights for up to 42 people (slightly fewer during the winter months).
The rooms are located in the historic buildings Norra Flygeln, Björkenääs, Vänhem, and Södra Flygeln. The suite is located in Södra Flygeln – you might choose this for yourselves – and there is only one guest room in that building.
All buildings contain both a kitchen and a lounge, providing a wonderful opportunity to socialize and extend the celebration with your closest friends and family.

How is Vänhem equipped?
Vänhem is a party and residential environment featuring:
- Dining room for up to 120 guests
- Large veranda for mingling and parties for 120 people
- The package includes accommodation in several buildings (up to approx. 42 people depending on the season)
- Several refrigerators and a freezer, scullery with a professional dishwasher
- Wi-Fi in the house
How long do we have access?
The Vänhem package includes two nights’ accommodation in Vänhem as well as in the castle wings and the Björkenääs house. Check-in is at 3:00 PM on the day of arrival and check-out is at 1:00 PM on the day of departure. All houses are equipped with a kitchen and lounge.
Preparations and decoration of the function rooms themselves take place in consultation with your wedding organizer. The function rooms may be used for the wedding party on the day of the event, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 AM.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
No – food and drinks must be ordered through a wedding caterer/restaurateur designated by Nääs Castle.

Are we allowed to decorate the venue ourselves?
Yes, it depends on what you and your wedding organizer have agreed upon regarding your own responsibility for table settings and decoration.
It is also important to be careful with the building – it is not permitted to use nails, staples, or in any way cause damage.
Can we use the area outside Vänhem?
Yes – the back of Vänhem’s veranda, which faces the lake and the castle, is perfect for mingling, toasts, and photography.
Other use of the outdoor environment is only permitted by special agreement.
What are the rules regarding candles, grilling, smoking, and fire?
- Smoking is only permitted outdoors in designated areas
- Outdoor torches must be placed at least 4 meters from the building
- Fireworks, sparklers, and smoke machines are not permitted
- Grilling is not permitted
- Candles on the tables are fine, provided they are used with moderation and common sense
How late can we play music?
You are very welcome to celebrate properly! Music at a higher volume is permitted until 02.00.
Do we need to clean up after ourselves?
Final cleaning is included, so you can focus on enjoying your day.
Is parking included?
Your booking includes one parking permit for each guest room (currently 17 rooms). Parking is only permitted in designated areas on the grounds. Other guests must park and pay for their parking in the designated paid parking areas.
When is our booking confirmed?
Your booking is valid once the contract is signed and the booking fee (50% of the total amount) is paid.
What happens if we need to cancel?
We hope, of course, that everything goes according to plan.
In the event of cancellation earlier than 8 months before the wedding, 25% of the paid amount will be refunded. For later cancellations, unfortunately, no refund will be issued.
Is there anything specific we should keep in mind?
Vänhem is part of a unique cultural heritage, which we are very protective of. We therefore ask you to show extra consideration for the building and its surroundings.
