Taking over an older house often brings both joy and questions. What should be preserved? What can be changed? And how do you actually do it – the right way?

During this full day at Nääs, you will receive an inspiring and hands-on introduction to the basics of building conservation. The course is aimed at those who have recently become homeowners, are facing a renovation, or simply want to understand more about how older buildings are constructed – and how they are best cared for.

Together with course leader Peter Jarbring, you will receive guidance on how to plan a sensitive renovation, make wise priorities, and avoid common mistakes. You will get an overview of the building’s style and character, as well as concrete advice on everything from color schemes to energy issues.

The day alternates with practical sessions where you can try traditional techniques yourself, such as clay plastering and window restoration – a way to both understand the materials and get closer to the craft.

In the historic premises of the Slöjd Seminar, knowledge and experience meet, and between sessions, there is time for questions, conversation, and reflection.
