Join us on a fascinating journey through the history of fashion – from the late 18th century, through the dramatic silhouettes and ideals of the 19th century, up to the turn of the 20th century.
Anette Sörgren, ladies’ tailor and house mistress of the Swedish 19th-Century Society, presents and discusses the people, ideals, and social changes behind the clothing. Why did the female silhouette change so drastically? What could attire reveal about status, finances, and lifestyle? And how did the new ideas of the time influence what was worn on the body?
Six models will showcase various garments, and with great knowledge, enthusiasm, and an eye for detail, Anette brings the clothes to life, providing insight into a time when fashion could be a language of power, identity, and social commentary.
As an extra special touch to the afternoon, Queen Victoria’s favorite cake is included along with coffee or tea. There will also be plenty of time to ask questions and further discuss what we have seen.
