The South Wing

Parties & Celebrations

Intimate & exclusive wedding dinner

The South Wing offers a private and elegant setting for small weddings. In the house’s dining room, there is an opportunity to gather a smaller party for an intimate and exclusive wedding dinner, with space for 2–10 people.

Here, in a calm and secluded castle environment, space is created for intimacy, conversation, and a small-scale celebration – with the castle and its historic surroundings as a natural backdrop.

History

Selma Lagerlöf's summer retreat

The South Wing dates back to the 18th century, when Nääs was owned by Jacob von Utfall, director of the East India Company. The two wings are the oldest buildings on the estate and are furnished in a castle-like style with magnificent 18th-century tiled stoves and beautiful antiques.

During August Abrahamson’s time, the South Wing became a home for his niece Sophie Elkan, who returned here every summer with her close friend Selma Lagerlöf. Here, in salons, halls, and garden rooms, friendship, conversations, and literary classics emerged.
