Vänhem is one of the most beautiful houses at Nääs. Here, historic interiors, elegant rooms, and a magnificent glass veranda with views over Lake Sävelången and the verdant castle landscape come together. The house contains both accommodation and common areas and has long been a natural place for socializing, celebrations, and weddings in the beautiful cultural setting.
Vänhem has its roots in Göteborg’s Gamlestad, where it was built as a summer residence for August Abrahamson and his wife Euphrosyne. In 1873, the house was moved to Nääs and soon became a natural gathering place during the handicraft seminary era. Here was the seminary’s dining hall, where meals, festivities, and fellowship brought together people from near and far.
Even today, the tradition lives on. Vänhem is still a place where people meet – for weddings, love, and celebrations in a historic castle setting.

Here, guests stay together in a peaceful castle setting – with shared kitchens, common rooms, and rooms filled with turn-of-the-century atmosphere. In Vänhem there are four bright double rooms and a summer room with four separate sleeping alcoves. In total, twelve people can stay in Vänhem.
At Nääs, guests always have access to a fully equipped kitchen in each accommodation. Guests are warmly welcome to bring ingredients and prepare their own meals. For larger parties, it is possible to order breakfast and simple meals at the Kaffestugan.
Around Nääs there are several excellent restaurants serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We can, for example, recommend Nääs Fabriker, Folket på Garveriet in Floda, and Öijareds resort.
There is wifi in the salon, but the signal may be somewhat weaker in the individual bedrooms.
To enter Vänhem, there is a high and steep wooden staircase to the main entrance and a corresponding wooden staircase to the glass veranda.
There is a ramp to the large dining hall used as a function room. The entrance door is a double door.
There are thresholds between all rooms.
In Vänhem there is an accessible WC in the basement, with an entrance from the outside.
Nääs today is one of Sweden’s largest listed buildings with an associated nature reserve, but also a large estate with a fantastic history.
